The Dash
The dash between the dates of when you were born and when you expire…how will you live them?
I used to be a party girl. Live for today, don’t worry about tomorrow.
Don’t get me wrong, in many ways I still am that girl. I love a good party! Not the kind where you get drunk and stupid… but the kind where you celebrate life!
I used to follow my heart. I
Mean isn’t that what we’re told? People always say: “follow your heart”!
Well, mine has been completely wrong a time or two! (or two thousand.)
My values and morals were based on what I felt was OK. Or what others deemed acceptable.
Many people, not unlike myself, thought that God’s ways were old-fashioned, outdated and maybe unattainable. It kept me from wanting to read the Bible.
I really had no idea that God loves us soooo much – He doesn’t want to see us mess up our lives, (or others.) He wants to protect us from really screwing things up for ourselves! He doesn’t want to take away our joy – quite the opposite.
Just like a loving parent would put out guidelines for their child to have a happy and productive life, to keep them out of harms way… that is how our Heavenly Father is – except He knows all – He’s not just guessing.
Be eternity minded. The time that you spend during the Dash will definitely matter eternally.
Spend that time seeking God – it’s the most important thing you can do with your life!
“ For I know what I have planned for you,’ says the LORD. ‘I have plans to prosper you, not to harm you. I have plans to give you a future filled with hope. “
